6 Months Old

January 24th marked six months old for Mr. Cheeks!  We cannot believe he's halfway to a year already.  Kane had his six month check-up this week and everything looks great with his growth and development.  His weight is in the 80th percentile and his length is the 84th, for his age. We love watching him grow and change every day!  His favorite things right now are sitting (all by himself!), playing with blocks and listening to "Shake it Off" by Taylor Swift. =)

New Playroom

When we bought our house 2 1/2 years ago, we didn't know what we would ultimately do with the sunroom.  It started out as a place for our patio furniture, then was a nice sitting/lounging area, but we decided it would make a perfect playroom!  Here are some of the before/after pics.

Birthday Party

This past weekend was Cousin Beckett and Cousin Pierce's Magic School Bus birthday party.  We  took our first visit to the Children's Museum.

Go Ducks!

Our favorite football team, the Oregon Ducks, made it to the National Championship Game this year and Kane was cheering them on all season!  Unfortunately, they didn't win, but we're still proud of them.  Go Ducks!

First bite

We were excited to try out our new baby food maker that Papa and Mimi got Kane for Christmas, so we steamed and puréed some butternut squash this weekend.  Kane tried a little and appeared to like it! He was hungry for milk though and got fussy after one bite, but overall, success!

Santa Baby

Zoolights

After all the Christmas/New Years fun, we finally made it to the Portland Zoo for Zoolights.  It sure was cold but it was beautiful with all the lights and we had a great time!

Slide!

When Uncle Morgan was in town, we checked out a local park we heard had a really cool slide.  It did indeed and we decided to try it out.... for Kane of course. =)  That's Morgan at the bottom.  Luckily there are no pictures of  Heidi after the slide.... Let's just say it went faster than expected and Kane will not be going down it until he is much, much bigger! 

5 Months

Christmas Eve marked 5 months for this little man!  He's squealing all the time, teething :(  and loves to grab and/or eat his toes.  And he is still pretty laid back and happy (until nap or bedtime!).

Kane's First Christmas

Christmas this year was more special than usual because it was Kane's first Christmas!  He might not be big enough to really understand but it was still fun.  Uncle Morgan, Grandma and Grandpa were all in town for the week.

Kane really liked watching the train around the Christmas tree and he always made this silly face as the train passed!

On Christmas day, Kane got lots of presents from our sweet families.  A couple of his favorites were his 'Kane' chair from Grandma and Grandpa and his chair that hooks onto the table from Nana! (Clearly there is a theme here as he is working very hard to sit up ;)

And in the afternoon, Kane's Nana was kind enough to have everybody over for Christmas dinner!
